    Connecting N800 to Blackjack

I have read all the threads and internet information on this topic and know I am setting both the Blackjack and the n800 correctly. I am using PdaNet and when I pair the Blackjack to the n800 the properties of the Blackjack that display on the n800 show that the n800 sees the Blackjack as having DUN. When I try to access the internet using the connection to the Blackjack, the phone and the n800 connect via bluetooth fine, but the n800 drops and says "Internet connection failed. Try again?"

I can connect just fine using PdaNet and a Motorola Q. The Motorola Q also shows DUN in the properties on the n800 just like the Blackjack. I am puzzled why this will not work with the Blackjack. I would love to get hsdpa connectivity instead of the 100 mbts that I am getting on the Q's evdo connection using the n800.

Has anyone reliably used the Blackjack as the gateway to the internet using an n800 and pdanet.

Thanks in advance for any reply.

Blackjack doesn't have DUN, it uses PAN. Search the forums for PAN.

Thanks for your reply, but I do have DUN on the Blackjack supplied by virtue of PdaNet, and the properties for the Blackjack displayed on the N800 show DUN as a profile.

The Moto Q doesn't have DUN natively either, but PdaNet provides DUN, and the N800 works flawlessly with the Motorola Q via PdaNet.

If someone has further information on the referenced "special script" mentioned above, please advise.

Again do a search for PAN on the forums, you'll find the info regarding the script.
I'm using a similar script to connect my N800 to the BJ using PAN. As far as pdanet is concerned I don't know as I haven't used it. I may take a look at it though out of curiosity.

The default apps always want to open a connection via the connection manger. There is a howto on the maemo wiki to create a dummy connection for the 770 however I could never get this to work on the N800 so I created a connection named bluetooth. Set it up as a WLAN connection using Ad hoc mode. Once i've run the script and connected to the blackjack I select this connection and all the default apps including opera work fine. VNC over hamachi also works well. If anybody knows a better way I'd like to know.

hey thanks for the reply. one last question if you dont mind, how do you connect on initial startup? do you have to go through a number of steps before you can log into the internet. using the v3xx phone, all i needed to do was to keep bluetooth on and whenever i turn on the n800, it automatically connects.

Unfortunately with PAN it's not that simple. You have to initiate the internet sharing app on the phone and then run the script on the Nokia to connect. I did setup a menu item to automate the script following the instructions on the wiki at http://maemo.org/community/wiki/howto_simpletoggles/
    Hope this helps

does the PDANet thing actually enable DUN in the Windows Mobile phones though? Or is it using some proprietary thing to get it to work? If its the latter, I doubt that the n770/n800 will work.
