    Thanks AndrewG. I tried that, but my results were a little different. I didn't have anything say welcom.avi. I had a file called /etc/hildon-welcome.d/default.conf. I made a back up of it and used VIM to edit the default.conf file, but the video file was named differently. At that point, I decided that I wasn't ready to reflash my phone if I messed something up so I downloaded the powatool app.

    One of these days I will reflash my phone and use your method to remove the nokia hand shaking boot video because I want to pretend to be a power user! :-P

    @leetut Thanks. I'm not sure how I missed that app all this time. I tried it and it works. Look ma! No hands!

    Hi,
    Under the /etc/hildon-welcome.d/, it has only one file under it which is default.conf, and its content is:
    [hildon-welcome]
    filename=Hands-v32-h264.avi
    so I did comment out as the following:
    #filename=Hands-v32-h264.avi

    It did NOT work after I rebooted the device. It still shows the boot screen.

    Any clue? Thanks for the help.

    Leetut!
    Can you somewhat make the video in different language as well?
