    Paul,

You're in a terrible time to buy write now. The N900 and Droid by hardware standards are starting to age and in six months time all the fresh phones are coming out. I would honestly wait.

Besides, you've got a lot of people here that own the N900 (including me) that aren't fully recommending it. I think that gives off a bit of the impression you get from the device.

In one barrel, I absolutely love my N900 for what it can do, yet in another I dislike it doesn't have.

Six months is a long time. The N900 was only (barely) released 6 months ago. And you know what they say about waiting for the next best thing in technology...

i am not very phased by what the N900 cant do. lack of portrait mode doesnt bother me much, nor does lack of voice dialing
the lack of MMS does bother me though, so i would be annoyed if fMMS didnt work for me.

im almost certain on the N900, even though it is $70 more for me. the multitasking and 32gb memory are both big things for me. also a big killer is the droids keyboard. i like how its set out compared to the N900, but dont like the shallow and unresponsive look of the buttons.

I saw one of the videos in the Internet comparing Droid and N900's web browsing.

When I saw Droid's flash player on youtube, it requires a separate player (dedicated) to view the video. Hassle for me.

Advantage is on N900 as it plays video like a desktop. I can see the comments while watching the video. Not hassle. There are even no lags. In fairness to this, Maemo is still at its early stage. What more in its upcoming update. And I also heard PR1.2 is coming around this week??

For the keyboard, I prefer E72-ish keyboard where they are kinda embossed.

N900 has Carl zeiss.. Maemo is fully open source while Android is partial if I'm not mistaken.
