Hi everyone,

Do any of you use a headphone splitter, or can you recommend one? It will work on the N900, right?

I just did a quick search on newegg. What's the best? I'm asuming there is some audio quality drop if you use a headphone splitter like this, am I correct?

personally I would chose the Belkin one at the top. I like the quality of Belkin's audio products, but I doubt there would be much difference between them.

As for loss of quality, doubtful as it would send the same signals through both jacks.

And finaly, is it compatible with the N900? Yes. It simply uses the headphone jack and splits it so you can listen on 2 headsets.

Great, thank you I don't recognize any of the other brand names that sell black ones...

I will order and let you know how it goes...

Please note that splitting headphone outputs will result in worsened battery performance due to high impedance and lower volumes. The N900 is pretty loud, so volume should be fine, but you may notice a performance hit.

Thanks for bringing that up. What do you think will happen if I have the splitter plugged in, with only 1 set of headphones plugged into that.

High impedance = high resistance?

BTW, I think I've changed my mind, I won't be buying the

I'm gonna keep looking for something similar, black, but without the rigid structure.

High impedance? Unless you're aware of splitters that wire the outputs in series, you should see lower impedance; paralleling two similar loads gives you half the impedance, and there's no way the wiring is more than an ohm, let alone enough to make up the difference.

My inner surgeon recommends a scalpel, but my macho-man mentality demands an axe.

Oh... You mean you want to split the signal...

Well, since you've got the money for an N900, i'm sure the folks at monster cable will have something really nice for 40 bucks.

Personally, I use a 3-way splitter i got at radioshack for about $5. Works for me. The volume drops a bit when 2nd and 3rd are plugged in.

On this topic, since Nokia uses a different pin-out for it's 4-pin (left, right, mic, ground vs iPhone's left, right, ground, mic), does anyone know if a good converter module for these?

States-side, almost all the headphone sets with mics use the iPhone pinout, since iCrap is rather predominant here. I'd love to have a converter so regardless of which pinout I have I can use it with my Nokia (or use my Nokia headset on some else's iCrap?)
