This drives me mad. Apple - for I believe they are the non-standard - should be shot!

I want to be able to carry one pair of headphones/mic to work with my MacBook and my N800 and anything else I might have. At the moment, I have a nice pair of headphones I use on both for music. For Skype etc, I use these with the internal mic on the MacBook, but still carry the Nokia buds/mic for the N800.

I thought a bluetooth headset would be the best solution, but haven't yet found a half-decent one.

My next headphones/mic will probably be USB, if there is an adapter for the Nokia.

My bad, got confused indeed.

If you hang twice the same headphones with the same impedance to a splitter, it will cut the impedance in half, effectively doubling the current required. Now, this may not have a significant impact (a lot of people use these splitters and never even notice the difference), I just wanted to make sure you were aware of it.

Edit: More information:

[11:24] <crashanddie> DocScrutinizer: so battery impact is minimal, you just get lower volume
