I just reflashed RX-51_2009SE_3.2010.02-8_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin under Win 7. It didnt take 4 min though. Now the N900 reboots all the time. It seams that it tries to fill the desktop with all my old apps and widgets and then stalls with the strange beeb and reboots.
But I thought flashing meant getting rid off all things installed before?
Did I break my precious N900? Please help.

You haven't flashed it properly if all the old crap is there?

I'm not sure about the old stuff because it fills up the desktop with black boxes and then I can see some of them are correctly displayed shortly and it seams its tidying up the different desktops but then reboots before its ready.
Should it try to reflash again? I followed the instruction carefully from here http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_firmware .

windows 7? that worked for you? (though stuck on boot loop)

i havent gone on any reboot loop in updating firmware, i also use Win7 but with Virtual PC (XP mode).

try re-flashing again, remove the battery an re-install, but dont switch the phone on (if you are still in the reboot loop). If you can get a Win XP desktop/laptop, its better.

Sh*t I reflashed again, same thing. This time I didn't started cmd as admin. Because before I did. I'll try my XP labtop now. I also formatted the micro sd card and the eMMC via Windows before reflashing.

I reflashed using WinXP on a laptop. Still same problem. I noticed that after I connected the device for flashing Windows tried to install drivers and said it faild. After flashing the N900 it reboots automatically should I leave the USB plugged in?
The first reboot after flashing works normally though, I have to put in my PIN which works fine. Selecting language, date and time is fine too and everything is still correct. In my case german.
This time I fetched the log from flashing:

That all looks okay. Looks like you'll need to reflash the eMMC as well Copy anything you want off there first though - power off the N900 and then connect it to the PC via USB (it should start up in mass storage mode).

Pew! I downgraded to RX-51_2009SE_1.2009.42-11_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin .
Phone is running again! And my mediaplayer desktop widget still lists my last played song!
It seams my SIM card is not recognised though.
Oh! My Calender still has all appointments in it! Odd?
My OVI, Skype and google talk account informations are up to date too.

Grab the Vanilla eMMC image (.bin file) from the Nokia repository
Navigate to the directory where the image file was saved (Windows users: if you don't know the full path to the image, copy it to the flasher directory)
Plug in the USB cable into the computer.
Execute the following command (in linux you have to be root!):

So I don't have to push the "U" key to flash the eMMC?

I already formatted it anyway. I'm charging now and then follow those instructions: http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_f...MC_in_the_N900 ?

Whats the problem here? Is the flash memory broken should I better contact NOKIA for a new device? I bought the device used on Ebay and the seller said he had to turn it to the support because the USB socket broke out and he got a new device. The IMEI from device and packaging is different so I gues thats right. And he gave me a document showing the transaction.
