While I am very comfortable with my N800, my wife's N770 gives me some headaches. One of the things which I am unable to do is to add some repositories to the N770 applications catalog.
My unit is a was reflashed with the latest Internet Tablet 2006 image and the only two catalogs installed now are:
I tried doing it manually, but I must be doing something wrong. I entered the URL to the web address, put 'mistral' in the 'Distribution' fields and I put 'user' 'free' where requiered in the 'Component' fields. Then I selected 'Enabled' and pressed ok, but each time I got a message telling me that the unit was unable to refresh the applications list and that the old one would be used.
Then I did what I do with my N800. I went to maemo.org, choose an application I wanted, cliked on install, the download began and I chose 'open' to have the packaged opened by the application manager, all just like the N800. Except that when the application manager opended on the N770 it did nothing at all (on the N800 it not only installs the application, it also adds the repository to the application catalog, giving easy access to all the other applications in the newly installed repository).
So what shall I do now? I would, if I could, simply edit the /etc/apt/sources.list file and make a simple "apt-get update", but I do not have a terminal or root access. So I need to use the GUI.
Currently I cannot confirm if this worked for me or not as I do not have wireless access right now. Will let you know once I do. In the mean time.. try this and I hope it helps.
Open App Manager, open the dropdown menu, go to Tools, click Log, then click Clear. Rerun the update, then look back in the log for anything of relevance and post it here
