What I don't understand is why some people pick sides when it comes to flash vs HTML5. Am I crazy for wanting both or is this one of those gang things where you either choose a side or get stabbed by both sides.

Flash vs Steve Jobs?
I will side with the lesser Evil, Adobe has my vote here.
On a side note, as a web developer I am thrilled about HTML5 in oh so many ways, but it will not be ready to replace flash in a few more years and it will not squeeze flash out of the market EVER.

Actually, I don't care about HTML 5, I think that XHTML 2 will be the next big thing.
And speaking about Flash, I symphatize more with Silverlight. (Which has an open soure alternative, Moonlight.)

I was interested to see a demo at www.flaemo.com. It made Flash look pretty good to me. I'm not sure if it's really happening, though.

Flash is bad for the iPhone mainly because free flash games would be accessible from the browser.

I find hilarious that Jobs says that Flash is not open.
On the other hand, didn't Adobe show them a N900 running Flash? If they didn't, I am pretty sure they will see a Nexus One running Flash soon enough.
