I do believe you're missing a few crayons from your coloring box.

After reading all of the silly posts back and forth about the leaked beta, I decided to try it for myself. Its too early to say everything works great, however, I am not having any of the described issues. A few apps would not install, and a TON of apps that wouldn't install in 1.1.1 for me install fine now. The OS seems extremely smooth now, and the web browser is working really well. Additionally I installed the enhanced kernel, and OC is killing. This is the first time I feel like the device is actually performing the way it was meant to be. To anyone trying this, I wish you as much success as I've had so far. To those of you who aren't, I hope the final PR1.2 is released soon.

I think we're going to see a lot of community made custom builds like they have for Android once Meego is released

IMO it's a good thing but comes with consequences. Any pre-compiled binary should never be fully trusted, and that even goes for the packages on extras. Honestly using PR1.2L is about as dangerous as doing that... Every time you install something from extras you technically are taking the same risks as installing the leaked firmware. The app manager gives full access to rootfs and can delete battery stuff, install a new kernel, dial 900 numbers, steal passwords, etc. You can literally destroy your device simple by installing one app.

Most of us are just too lazy, don't want to wait, or don't know how to compile from source. I fall in at least one of those categories, not wanting to wait. But in this case, I'd wait to see if there's a timer in PR1.2L before I consider using it.

    P.S.:
This post is not meant to encourage anybody to attempt anything malicious with the extras repo and if you try it I'm sure someone will find you and KILL YOU!

I seriously can't even start to explain in how many ways this tread is just wrong.
    • A. What is the leaked PR1.2 RC like?
    • B. Disappointing, Worth a try, 100% what you wanted to see

I did not want to see or hear or know about an unreleased, leaked unstable firmware although I had a gut feeling one must be out, I didn't even bother looking for it.
    • What do you expect when you see a sketch or a half finished painting? Can you be disappointed by an unfinished product?
    • Worth a try? Dunno, would you try to walk around with the chassis of a car that has no engine? Umm... not unless starring in "The Flinstones"
    • 100%... considering this firmware is ~70% ready, I would need choices like 87.2%, 93.4% answer options.

I agree that Nokia should release small incremental updates as they become available - but they don't. Be patient, what are you? Kindergarten?

You say that, but there are people on this forum that would disagree.
