In meant time you can play text version of nethack and fool around with cron and invent insane usage scenarios with different cli tools. YAY. [/sarcasm]

Btw. What do you mean when you say that N900 is slowing down?

Oh, right. Apple had me confused on that one. Something about lack of understanding equals magic. Or sumfin.

I believe the waiting for QT has indeed slowed down development/releases somewhat - in wait of the new firmware version with new QT support. Temporarily. Also, I believe some developers are uncertain if it's worth staying on the Maemo train when they know it's about to take a sharp turn on the way to MeeGo station.

Welcome to (mostly) open source. I would advise anyone not interested in that sort of ecosystem to avoid Linux-based devices entirely.

Software developed by Nokia is of course finished, tested and not something you're asked to contribute to.

Software not developed by Nokia is not a finished product you've paid for, so you get more than what you've paid for.

The Meego announcement combined with the slowness of updates to the handset and Ovi store killed the momentum behind Maemo, and along with that a lot of the interest in developing for it. But we are where we are, For those who are happy or who can't afford to break their contracts and change handset, it's all about how we go forward from here and make the best with what we got. If it's apps you're wanting and you have the money to change, then the choice is fairly simple.
