Aha! I got it to work!

When I simply e-mail the db file from my tablet to my desktop (using the Nokia e-mail app to send and MS Outlook 2007 to receive), I get that error message. I attached this file: "SavedFromOutlook.zip". The password is "hi".

BUT when I use XArchiver on my tablet to put the same file into a tar file then THEN e-mail it, I don't get the error message. I attached this file as well ("OneEntryTM.tar", same password). Weird!

I'm not sure if you need it any more. But, just in case it would be helpful, I uploaded "OneEntryTMFromN810.tar" directly from my tablet.

Ah -- I didn't realize you could do this! Otherwise, I wouldn't have gone through that nonsense of creating a file on my tablet first. When I run the JAR file, I first see an open file dialog. If I type in a filename that didn't already exist, that file will be created in the current directory. I can later open it without difficulty.

java version "1.6.0_20"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_20-b02)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 16.3-b01, mixed mode, sharing)

Now I just need to test getting it back onto my N810.

File Type: tar OneEntryTM.tar (2.0 KB, 56 views)
File Type: tar OneEntryTMFromN810.tar (2.0 KB, 59 views)

Two other notes:
  • With "KeePass", it is better to capitalize the "P" and not the "A". Otherwise, it might result in a humorous/off-color misinterpretation...
  • After importing my "real" file of passwords, closing, and re-opening, the JAR choked: "Could not parse database...". I determined that this was due to carriage returns in my comments (KeePass' newline characters are '
' sans quotes). However, KeePass also has an export option called "Encode/replace newline characters by '/n'" that eliminates the problem.

I am up and running! Many thanks!

However, the FAQ on http://www.keepassx.org/faq mentions that KeePassX has an XML export format.

It should be much easier to write a desktop application that converts the KeepAssX XML export format to TrustMe's database as a one-way conversion. Would something like this be useful to you?

Keepass has an api that you can talk to so you can get the data from the keepass database. I've done that already for Keyring (a Palmos app) and i'm trying for pysafe: http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=40108&p=627874 but i'm stuck with the format of pysafe: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...6&postcount=99

Does Trustme run on a N900?

I fixed the typo.

As to the import problem - can you send me the XML file generated from a dummy database using KeePass without the special export option? I think TrustMeDesktop may not handle multiline comments as intended.

I'm not sure; I don't have an N900 for testing. TrustMe is a relatively straightforward Python program (using the Hildon API and a binary library for Blowfish encryption). It won't have the Fremantle look and feel though.

If you want to try it: download the following packages and install them manually using dpkg:
