    EDIT: There's more recent stuff in extras-devel:

    The mplayer package contains mencoder - a command-line program which can do some useful things to media files.

    That seems alright but having an actual app where you just point and trim without special inputs would be nice. I think this editor would be worth a pretty penny if it made it to the N900 and i would spit shine my penny real good to get it lol.

    I like this thread! I saw the flash mockup of the video editor a while ago and when I found out nobody seems to be writing a video editor it inspired me to start developing for N900.

    I have started writing some code that will eventually turn into something resembling that video editor. If there is a lot of interest in it, it will probably motivate me to work harder and faster!
