I'm interested in grabbing single images from a generic webcam over USB and uploading them to the internet over the 3g connection.

Unfortunately, from what I understand, the n900 does not support host mode or USB OTG. Is this correct, or is there a hack I'm missing somewhere?

I'm considering using the BeagleBoard instead, as the USB support for external devices seems to work better -- but I haven't seen a fitting 3g peripheral.

USB OTG is not possible. No hack as it is a hardware constraint IIRC

Hmmm sounds definitive
I realize that it might be considered off topic, but would the same go for recording audio by means of the left and right audio output channels? (then being line IN):
wrong hardware?

Well that does seem to be a definitive "no"... so on to the BeagleBoard

Thanks!
