I just got my 770 today, i was playing with it, but since it wouldn't let me do anything in file manager, i decided to assign the 'user' to group 'root' just temporarily to finish my tweaking.

after i did that with using the root login and ssh, i restarted the 770 for the changes to take effect and now, when the blue progress bar gets close to the end in the nokia boot screen it just restarts and does the same thing infinitely,

anyway to restore what i just did??

You can probably restore the OS. See the Nokia site for info.

If the 770 begins the boot sequence, I'm 99% sure you'll be able to reflash. You'll need to download the latest copy of the 2006 firmware from Nokia's site as well as the Windows flasher utility. Use Internet Explorer as people have reported the Windows flasher link doesn't appear under FireFox. Make sure you've got a full battery and the process should take a few minutes.

Really though, if you want root funtionality, search the Wiki on this site for enabling R&D mode. From there all you do is run 'sudo gainroot' which is the equivalient of changing to root. R&D mode doesn't screw up anything else. Mine has been in R&D mode since December 2005.

Glad you're running again, Kay. When I posted last night, I was just too tired and lazy to find the flashing info for you.
