Why do some people keep referring to this 1.2 as released in Hong-Kong but not the rest of the world ?
As far as I know it was shown on a device during a show in HK, at this time someone got hold of the beta FW and spread it around.
It is not an official release, not available for N900 buyers in HK or anywhere... so ?
If I was head of sw development @ Nokia I'd leak it and hope that the hackers & tweakers would test it.
I'd have a team following the "issues" & "bugs" and I'd let a few shills make postings like: "DON'T install this !", "ILLEGAL" & "Will BREAK and BRICK your device", etc.
In the mean time I'd have plausible deniability and get feedback from the die-hard fans of the N900
I don't care about hildon-home. This is free software, so we can fix it ourselves. But regressions in closed components should not take 4 months to fix.
This.
The closed source apps (and heck, even the other components of the OS that can be compartmentalized) should really be treated as separate applications and receive separate updates from the massive PR updates that appear to be death to release on time.
And yes, I have voted for that particular brainstorm :P
