sorry for digressing a bit, but i dint want to start a new thread for just a small ques.

the backup shows an option for communication and calender. does this also include aur contacts n conversations as there is no seperate mention of these things? tia

Yes.

Back on topic, this happens to me too, but I've always blamed it on -devel.
en_GB is my device's language, however I really don't think it matters.

Have you ever installed fmtx faker? Even if not, there may be other packages causing a similar effect so it's probably worth looking at bug 8148 for the root of the problem and troubleshooting hints.

You were right lma. After using the suggested patch on /etc/event.d/fmtx-faker and rebooting, the backup application now functions properly again. Or alternatively, removing fmtx-faker from the application manager and rebooting.
