On my desktop I have been using this app called cplay: http://directory.fsf.org/project/cplay/ for a while. It's a commandline media player which could be used to play mp3s with mpg321, etc., which is something that's already available for the n810.

I find the media players for the os2008 a little clunky and I think cplay in a terminal would be pretty awesome. Since python is already available, installing cplay theoretically seems to be a matter of copying the python files over to the /usr/bin directory.

The only problem is that cplay needs the ncurses support in python, which is not currently available in the Python distribution for any of the Maemo platforms. I am currently learning how to compile things for my n810 using the SDK and scratchbox, but I am still reading the tutorials and I don't really know what I'm doing yet.

I was wondering if any experienced developers out there could tell me how hard this might be, and perhaps provide any tips on how to do this. Something interesting I found was that Angstron distribution (http://www.angstrom-distribution.org...=python-curses) has a python-curses module but none of them is compiled for the n810. I tried installing the one for armv6, which according to Wikipedia is the n810's processor, but it didn't work and the n810 said armv6 was the wrong target when I used dpkg -i.

Any help would be greatly appreciated to get cplay working on the n810.
