Hi Community

i am on the verge of buying the N900 but there some questions

To all the tech developers, do you think that the future applications developed for Meego will work in n900.

Also will all the symbian apps be portable to n900

There may be a thread for this but i am not able to get precise answers on this.

And i m on the verge of buying n900, Please help

More likely than not, assuming people stay within the bounds of Qt 4.6

The idea is that you can simply tick off boxes and it'll be built for all of them, at least with the move to Qt. Older Symbian apps would have to be ported normally.

Well both Meego and the newer (not yet released) Symbian support Qt which should make porting applications much much easier. And by PR1.2 maemo supports (officially) Qt4.6.

For older Symbian apps this is not the case. These apps require far more effort to be ported.

So that means the nokia officially bringing QT support in N900 is an indication that it intends for making Meego+Symbian apps compatible with N900's maemo

What do you think?

Yes in my opinion.
