I am not an expert but I think your first step should be upgrade the firmware. If you install applications first, you will likely have to install all or at least most of them again when you do upgrade the firmware. I see you are still online several hours after your post here, so I assume that you are browsing the tremendous amount of outstanding information in this forum.
