    Looks really great

But it seems like there is a short delay from pressing the on-screen keys until the sound is heard. This is especially noticeable when trying to play with the drumbeat. maeStylophone doesn't seem to have that. Could it be the samples?

The name of the app is a bit misleading as it is not really a synth but a piano sample player. Maybe the name should have been maePiano or something similar or maybe you have plans to extend the functionality to include a synth engine

Anyway, again thanks to mikec and Minsteri for bringing us these fun little music apps!!

EDIT: Now I don't feel any noticeable lag anymore when playing. Maybe I was just imagining it or it was some temporary thing?!

thanks for feedback, of course synth engine is goal, but first up is more voices and beat selection. then after that we look into how to make it more like a synth or not depending on feedback and priorities. needed to prove virtual keyboard was good enough, so bit alarmed to see your delay, but glad you dont see it any more.

I,m planning next release once this version gets into extras, so please vote to push this out. Frequent small updates is the plan.

I did a bit more testing and there seems to be something a bit fishy timing-wise when playing along with the drum beats - at least for me.

When pressing a key, the timing of the drum beats seems to change, e.g., suddenly the bass drum sample seems to come too early (or is it late). The timing of the piano samples appear ok but the drum beat timing seems somewhat unstable when playing piano keys.

Do anyone else experience the same?

    This is good feedback.
Can you also tell me ifchanging the decay and bass bpm has any significance. for the next release we will have a bpm indicator, but i,m struggling to measure this correctly other than by ear. Any help in this regard would be appreciated.

also I dont know how much limitation the hardware has for the moment.

Looks fantastic. Very interested. I can't wait to get my N900 back (yep, I broke the screen) so I can install this.
Any prospect of including a sequencer?

Does anyone know of a sequencer running on Maemo? (sorry for minor hijack)

I'm trying to port fluidsynth to the N900 at the moment which will give us a synth rendering engine. Its compiled and runs, loads soundfonts but is not making very nice noises at the moment , might just be the amount of CPU it needs.

If I can get this working it will save me a shed load of time mucking around with wav files

What would really be freakin' awesome (one can dream) is some kind of program that can act like a wave generator like this:

A really cool app great work

there are two features that would really be great if you could add.

    1- polyphonic playing
2- Double deck keyboard - to add more keys in one screen

I had a problem while playing with the drums, it was going out of beat
