AIM and MSN are usually accessed through multi-protocol clients based off libpurple, like Pidgin and Adium. We all all recognize the world would benefit if these single-login protocols simply vanished and people adopted jabber, but they're essential for now. So the practical questions is : How should we access these single-login services from the N900?
First, if you actually need multiple logins, either for logging or convenience, the only current solution is jabber gateways, which have an exceedingly poor reputation. Are there now any viable jabber gateway solutions?
Second, if you don't require multiple logins, you'll still require that your logins migrate cleanly between computer and phone, meaning all users must deactivate and reactivate their MSN, AIM, etc. connections daily. I've found that both Haze and Butterfly are horribly buggy MSN when you deactivate and reactivate connections, AIM has similar but less dramatic problems
If you use AIM or MSN, how do you accommodate for these protocol limitations and software bugs?
p.s. I've found the N900's contact application manages multiple accounts rather poorly. For example, if I add a gtalk or msn contact, that contact should just expand the contact that already had that gmail address. Also, I find it completely insane how Haze and Butterfly use different MSN contacts.
