After a fresh reflash of my N810 to fix a problem, I was loving it again. Loving it, that is, until I went to install Skype.

Last night, I attempted to install Skype and found that it appeared to hang when starting the download. Confused, I went and looked up Skype's website. There is no longer a Nokia download page or any mention of Maemo.

It may just be that I am doing something idiotic, but I can't seem to find Skype anywhere. Does anybody know if Skype removed it's support for the N810 and/or where I could get Skype now? That nifty little program must be one of the most used applications on my N810 and things aren't the same without it.

    Thanks for your help!

    Intresting...

I have bookmarked this page: http://www.skype.com/download/skype/nokia/

It says "Hi, we have removed this page"

    Maybe we can email them

That's pretty disturbing if that's the case.

What repo was the Skype .deb in - and is that repo backed up (copied) somewhere (maybe a good idea for the future...)...?

Using the internet wayback machine I got the same skype-nokia link the way it looked in mid-2008:

    I think this works: http://web.archive.org/web/200807010...a/downloading/

My Skype, on my N810 says version: 1.7.113.2 and the linked download is 1.7.62.49.1

I don't think that's the topic of this thread.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the help. I thought that perhaps I had broke something on my N810. I'm not sure if I am glad I didn't. :-/

It appears that it isn't just Maemo 4 either. I believe they removed the Windows Mobile one as well.

I feel sad to say that the .install files just won't work. That pretty much gives instructions to the N810 on where to download and install the files. The download has been removed as well. Who can I (or we) email about this?

Also, it is still in the repo. I'm not sure if it default, but I know I have it in my application list. The only non-default repo that I have is Diablo-extras.

I emailed them and asked them what they were doing. I'll keep you guys posted!
