    Wifi Hex Key

I am trying to connect to my school wifi, which has only given me a hex password. I know this password is correct, as I have used it on other devices, but when I copy it into the password box on my N900, it cuts off the last character, telling me the maximum length has been reached. Without the last character, it obviously won't connect.

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Are you sure you aren't copying it with a trailing space or line break? Try typing it in manually.

The password is exactly 64 characters long, but even typing manually, the password box will only accept 63 characters.

Maybe a temporary hackaround would be to enter the first 63, then edit the config file to include the last one?

Nope, when editing, it still only allows 63 characters.

Yup, that seems to be the bug. So is there no hope of a solution then?

Actually, read further. The "issue" is closed because "the standard requires to have less than 64 characters" Looks like you are SOL...unless you can talk to your school admins.

the bug is not resolved . they just put the dirt under the carpet !
on my wireless router i can choose between 64 hex or max 63 ascii chars
C can add apples with donkeys but hex is different from ascii

    0xAAAAAA....A 64 times differ from "AAAAAAAAAA....A"
until they not add selection checkbox the bug is valid

I think there's a misunderstanding of the so called standard which states 63 characters max for a passphrase.
Well, a hex key is not a passphrase!!!

Anyone want to test the workaround described in https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1002#c14?
