Hi guys, hope I'm in the right section/subforum with my message.

Ok, quick rundown of my worries:
Just recently I flashed my N900 to make it clean, slim, fast, in short: sexy again. After the flash which went smoothly all the way through, I restored a backup I created before the flash. I intentionally only restored browser bookmarks and "communication and calendar" to keep the N900 as clean as possible. Right after the restore, to not get duplicates of my contacts and calendars, I did a complete resync with my Exchange connection.

I happily used the N900 since then until recently I found out, I forgot to reinstall msn-pecan. Because I had an important matter to discuss with a friend over IM/MSN, I installed msn-pecan from the repos and upon account configuration or better on the way to account configuration, I found out, that my previos IM-account from pre-flash, which was nowhere to be found on the system prior to installation of msn-pecan, has obviously been restored and just now got "activated" or "visible" by installing msn-pecan. So the backup restores even accounts of plugins/protocols not (yet/anymore) on the system!

I wanted to start all over, deleted the account, Maemo threw a warning at me "Do you want to remove the account (null)?" which uuuhm I found strange to say the least. Said yes, tried to reconfigure the account freshly and fail to do so since then. In the dialog, where I have to put in my username and password for msn/live, after tapping the "Login" (Anmelden, got a german system) the button gets greyed out, stays greyed out but nothing happens. In short: I cannot configure a msn-pecan account anymore, the system gets stuck at the cedentials popup.

I also found out, that after installing msn-pecan, all IM-contacts which I had merged with their "regular" contact data still have the msn-pecan account visible under their contact details without me having an account configured. And I cannot get rid of those msn-pecan contacts anymore. Another full resync with Exchange didnt change anything, I'm really stuck here.

Summary: after fullflash (including eMMC) and backup restore (only comm and cal.), complete resync prior to usage and msn-pecan installation, I had a "ghost" account labelled "(null)" upon deletion. After deletion of that account, I canot add a new msn-pecan account. And my previously merged contacts show the msn-pecan details in their "contact card" without having an account configured on the device and I'm unable to delete those msn-pecan entries from their contact details.

And even shorter: help...

Any ideas? Un- and reinstalling pecan didnt solve anythign either.

I'm in pretty much in the same boat. I installed Haze for MSN, and then installed Pecan for MSN. Now all my MSN contacts are double, and removing Haze did nothing. All my Haze contacts stayed there. Any clues on how to remove all the double contacts? I have over 900 contacts, so removing them one by one is not an option.

AFAIK that's a problem of the contact manager app. Should be fixed in PR1.2.

Hmmm... quick rundown: reinstall haze. Connect, disconnect, delete account, uninstall haze. Ok, here we go:
  1. Deactivate Pecan in Controlpanel -> VoIP-/Chat-Accounts. Tap the Pecan-account, untick checkbox active, activate, use or similar (German system here).
  2. Reinstall Haze
  3. Configure Haze
    • If Haze-account is still present, see 4
    • If no Haze-account present, configure new account using MSN (Haze) (Not Pecan!)
  4. Connect with MSN (Haze)
  5. Once successfully connected, disconnect
  6. In Controlpanel -> VoIP-/Chat-Accounts delete MSN (Haze) account
  7. Uninstall MSN (Haze)
That should do.

Oh, and btw, I somehow got my messy contacts fixed. Don't exactly know how I or the N900 did it, but it works now ;-)
