    How can I keep my data safe?

    Hi there, I got some content that I want to keep secure, so I would like to secure my Micro SD Card secure, or have a folder somewhere I can keep it secure, any ideias.

    Have a look at encrypted file systems. Then you need a pass phrase to mount the partition. Without the pass phrase, the attacker would need lots of time to crack it.

    Modern distributions often come with this as a default option. Some quick Google to find some alternatives to compare will get you going.

    PGP offers strong protection on file level. GPG is the free implementation.

    Depending on your needs, different levels of protection can be used.

    If you want to make a partition or a whole disk protected. For example turn your SD card into an encrypted device. There are several HOWTOs on this.

    Do we have anything on Maemo , that I could install on the Nokia N900 that could help me to do this. I'm trying to learn the linux way but my background as been windows so sorry if it sounds i'm asking silly questions.

    Probably in devel repositories. Try power search with crypt / crypting keywords.

    In the end just used the win7 bitlocker seems to have done a nice simple job, will keep unwanted eyes away tks for your feedback anyway

    Me too! Please anyone port truecryt with a GUI to the N900. In return i offer PR 1.4!

    No seriously: Truecrypt rocks we need that. N900 is a computer not a phone. It deserves truecrypt.
