(iii) due to Nokia making faulty devices (faulty usb ports) I can only charge from a PC. Not ideal considering I have to charge the thing 3 times a day. And cause I got it from the US and live in the UK can't even fix it under warranty without loads of hassle.
WELL SAID you just did not say enough of your thoughts ha.
This so called "friendly" community is packed with FANBOY know it all's that are straight in to critisise if anyone even dare talk bad of this piece of JUNK we call the N900.
The biggest letdown is a multitude of things starting with the device itself, the usb port is a complete disaster and a time bomb for ALL n900's unless modded.
Then their is the problems with the non exsistent software that we have all got used too over the decades from Nokia NON EXSISTENT!, then you got the developers bless there soles who develop kids stuff instead of concentrating on maybe a much better os because its now obvious Nokia aint bothering cos now we all learn its about to become Meego and Meamo is going to be forgotten, they develop stuff that screws everything up THEN knowingly put a warning on everything before installing the shite.
Well for me its a complete letdown and a waste of the money we paid (nearly as much as you with the import tax from the states to find out we aint got warranty) So all in all we are stuffed basically because the n900 will be forgotten very soon as Nokia plan to get themselves out of the shite they got into by bad design and bad bad bad support.
One of the biggest problems on here is 2 of the moderators who actually are not only fanboys but fuel argument all the time if they dont agree with whats being said.
I have had more than my share of shite from know it all's and fanboys who think they are fantastic LINUX deb'velopers, oh my god i have never in my life seen such a disasterous bunch of apps and shite that destroy the os and THEN the fanboy know it all's tell you... well they DO come with warnings.... shite it is pure adulterated shite and most of the apps should be destroyed along with the pathetic arguments we all get from the fanboys.
Thats just my 2 pennath after a few years of monitoring this forum and nobody will ever shift me from that opinion untill it gets its act together in many ways.
I try to be tollerent but the fanboy know it all's take you beyond sanity lol so best to just get on with it and put the n900 down to a bad dream and wait for the next so called bloody disasterous flagship from Nokia.

It is obvious, that still don't understand which is the target audience of the Nokia N900.
If you think, that the N900 is the flagship device from Nokia, well, it is not.

The target audience are these fanboy developers, who develop kids stuff. (By the way, did you developed anything, not to mention helped the community in any way?)
For example, take lcuk. He developed liqbase and everything related. Kids stuff, right? Now he works for Nokia.
fMMS - kids stuff... Yeah, right..
The whole easy Debian thing..

Obviously you expected something different. Maybe a device full of eye-candy apps?
I'm sorry for you, that your expectation wasn't fullfilled, but with a little bit research one year ago, you wouldn't have had these expectations.
That proves, that you wasn't "monitoring" this community for years, Mr. Sir joined on February 2010.
And if so, you could have monitoring the intellectual disaster after the release of the N900, coming from new users, which are pure consumers and not willing to give something back to the community, just like you.
You have a problems with two moderators on here. Well everyone can guess why. They took the right decision to ban you. But it seems, you haven't learned anything.

To answer your concerns about maemo and meego a last time:
maemo got already two firmware updates. One is coming very soon, and PR 1.3 is coming some time after that. That makes four firmware updates without having to pay something. Meego will be running on the N900 fairly well, and a big update for meego will be coming every six month. In fact maemo and meego are the same. Specially the first meego version, which is just a renamed maemo version.
The next meego based device from Nokia is coming at the end of this year. So a new device is coming a full year after the release of the N900. That's to short for you? Everyone seems to moan about this. I can't understand why. Apple is releasing a new phone every year.

Maybe just maybe as this is indeed an OFF TOPIC thread that people will actually come in here if they have the nerve to face the critisim from the FANBOYS and tell some truths.

Umm. I'm not a Nokia fanboy.
I took the ethical decision to support Linux. Wherever it is installed.
It's on my router, by home media center, my PC, my mobile, even my car is running a Linux system.
That is because it is free as in speech. The beer part is not of interest for me.

So if a company provides a device with preinstalled Linux, which suits my needs, it is bought.
If a different company would have provided a better device, I wouldn't be here.

Piece of *#¤%# might be exaggerated. Have you ever really used mp3-players that really really suck?

Ok. Default media player is not something that replaces 1:1 iPod. Surprised? Me..not. Also there is already some media players in extras/testing/devel that are imho better for video, for example kmplayer. Is it the best...NO.

Without saying this is not normal. You should probably search for bugs/threads and look if there is some other people having partically this same issue. IF NOT THEN MAKE POST describing your problem IN DETAIL WITHOUT RANTING and see what happens. Without saying first thing to do before posting is of course flash vanilla+emmc and NOT to install ANYTHING for couple of days and just look if it still keeps freezing. These are the things what N900 user can least do before just saying that it doesn´t work. And always remember that if it doesn´t work for you it still works for thousands of people and none of us is special.

Now this is absurd. Why on earth you can not use wall charger? Does your device have two different charging plugs or what the H is happening?

By the way MONITORING means exactly that oh wise one (wriong again are we!) joining and becoming a member is something different, did they actually teach you to read english?.
