Quick Question: Being Maemo is an Open Source operating system; If I could create drivers for a AMOLED touch screen would I be able to hack one into the N900?

Nothing.. It would not meet my requirements.

Capacitive? Nope. Too sensitive for my tastes, and I prefer stylus + accuracy over gestures/multitouch.

AMOLED? If it's worth the money in terms of saving battery life.

The only hardware upgrade I would get is powered USB host.

(While we're on multi touch, what happened to Stantum or eGalax_eMPIA?)

Unlikely. You'd have to hack controller chips on the board and integrate them into the existing circuits. Writing drivers is comparatively easy.

No. To me, that is a downgrade.

I prefer resistive that N900 has over capacitive. Never felt need for multi-touch and capacitive stylus doesn't feel as good. I also prefer the transflective LCD that is being used on the N900 than AMOLED. It is more readable even in bright sunlight.

I would rather:
- More RAM
- Bigger LCD
- USB Host
- HD video record/playback and HDMI out

Add to your list xenon flash, 1Ghz CPU and I gonna sell my N900

Haven't done research into AMOLED displays, but definitely NO to capacitive touchscreen. Give me accuracy any day.

Well I've read that on Nexus One AMOLED is just horrible you cant see a thing under sunlight

I wonder when manufactures will start to use Super AMOLED more

For this type of question the better solution is a survey (poll)!

IMHO: i pay both to amoled both to capacitive or resistive multitouch. The upgrade to Meego will be more simple i think! (and MeeGo comes certinly with more apps thanks to big software housa such as game loft and other).

The main problem are:
- is it possibile to upgrade?
- the price: under 50 euros yes....over mhmhmhm
