    Hi,
I have an old release of Mapper installed and now I want to upgrade to the most current one, is that just uninstall the old release from Application Manager and use the .install from the new release to install the new one? Is there anything else I have to do?

    Kenny

i would think that if the update is in the same place as the old one, you can just fire up the application manager, hit "check for updates" button and see if maemo mapper is listed.

tso's suggestion works, assuming you originally installed Maemo Mapper via the Application Manager. In this case, though, you should verify that (1) You're running the most reason version of your device's firmware; and (2) The repository config in the Application Manager refers to the "gregale" distribution (not "mistral").

Of course, if you didn't use the Application Manager the first time around, you can just add the repository to Application Manager and subsequentluy follow tso's advice.

Or, you can just use the .install file. You don't have to uninstall the older version. Just open the .install file and the upgrade happens automatically. Gone are the old Windows application days of "uninstall old version, then install new version." Life is good.

Thanks for the advice. I like the idea of not having to uninstall first. Hope that one day Windows can do the same thing.
