Why does the N900 not play BBC video streams ! - Page 4 - maemo.org

The issue is because the bbc use flash 10 with the iplayer, as does tvcatchup. When we eventually get flash 10.1 ( which nokia have teased us all with for almost a year) the video streaming will become watchable.

I just watched Terry Gilliam's 'Brasil' on iPlayer with my N900. It wasn't too bad overall - slightly jumpy but not unwatchable.

BTW I used the 'normal' iPlayer mode, not the bigscreen version which I couldn't get to play video only audio.

People having issues with flash. Have you changed your cache settings to 40 mb?

Im genuinely curious not knocking Apple at all but someone on the Apple side got it right, someone on the Nokia side got it wrong

I see there are mixed views from everybody, some people iplayer and youtube work fine, for others it fails.

For me personally, youtube streams well but the quality(resolution) is crap and that makes it just about watchable.

BBC iplayer for me never works

Other websites such as myspace video's don't work either.

The phone i had before the N900 was .......... an iphone 2G!
I must say that youtube on the iphone was excellent quality and perfect streaming rate,
And the bbc iplayer on the iphone was also also flawless, the stream was again perfect and the quality was very nice

WHO CARES IF IPHONE DOESN'T HAVE FLASH SUPPORT!
Since its got the great applications to access all the website who cares.....

I cannot get BBC iPlayer to work either, and my cache is set to 40Mb.

Try CNN's live video stream
At the moment all it has is streaming video (no audio) from BP's ROV at the busted oilpipe, but they occasionally have other things.

Or you could try the number one un-biased source of info about Americas military
Both work on the N900, as does youtube

[SOLVED] Hi all, just thought I would share with you all my ickle tip to get BBC iPlayer working through n900 microB. Simply go to the following url bbc.co.uk/iplayer and bookmark it to your desktop. Visit the site and choose a video, then simply press the pop out button for the video. It opens another windows and plays the video BRILLIANTLY with no stutter at all. Shame that it cant work without popping the video out and into another window.

I have had no problems with BBC. Even news 24 live streaming from the main website streams nicely every day for me and the iplayer site streams just fine

yeah works fine for me too.

any video from iplayer or bbc site plays and full screen too in pop out player. not amazing picture quality, can be a tad blocky but it plays.

using the microb stock browser.
