I have never had any issues with apps from Devel, however I would
only recommend enabling it if you are comfortable flashing your N900 and run backup regularly.

I could answer to this post nicely explaining why, but then again I would think that if you even consider to enable it and you are able (proven here) to write post to this forum then i would also think that you are able to use search and find out place called wiki inside maemo.org (Have to admit that itīs bit hidden, but itīs there) and read explanations from there.

So answer to your last question is NO, because of your question

One further comment: I have always learned most from getting in trouble and then getting out of it. I remember in horror realizing that I had accidentally reformatted my 8086 work computer hard drive one Friday and frantically reading a Peter Norton book on how to proceed next. Took me most of the weekend.

So to me, getting in over your head and learning to swim is all part of the process.

i has been victim of two extras devel bugs that force me to reflash (and reinstall everything)

1) Titan plays A LOT with the power-kernel in extras devel. the Testing version is excelent, but the devel version 28 (or 29?) comes with a reboot loop bug. titans was aware of that and fixed it in the next version, but for me its a refash

2) i dont know what package messed up the sudoers file on installation. that cant survive a second in extras-testing

please, people: stay away from extras devel if you want a pleasure device
that is what screwed it up for me as well. Aint gonna bother with underclocking and overclocking malarky, that is just asking for trouble!
Done a re-flash which fixed everything but the wifi, now eventually i have managed to fix that and its all working fine now.

I would and still do use all the testing/dev repositories but wont be touching the kernel again thats fo sure!
