you can have a go with

    apt-get dist-upgrade ( as root )

anything around 50M of rootfs should be OK I think.
Tried this with 59MB free, got the error - you don't have enough free space in var/chache/apt/archives/

If its not showing in app manager its no because you dont have enough space (59mb is fine afaik) its because you have either the global or the vodafone firmware, so far OTA update has only been rolled out for the uk generic firmware version.
If you have the global fw then it shouldn't be long (tomorrow morning at the latest), but if you have the voda fw they haven't even signed off the previous fw version yet, so if you want pr1.2 you will need to reflash using the flasher 3.5 utility.

I have 56MB free: "You don't have enough free space in /var/cache/apt/archives"

Application Manager still refuses to update.

Mine was failing at around 55-56MB free (UK version 203)

Now downloading after I got it up to 58MB free with some serious application uninstallation.

Thanks mods for changing the title,
it'll now be clear to everyone not on UK fw why OTA is not showing.
