Well, the update went smoothly, but where's the much-advertised portrait browsing? Nothing in the menus, and ctrl+shift+r (as mentioned in some other threads) does nothing for me.
released also in Greece, do u know what to do for the update?i do not have external memory for backup..is that a problem?and i m trying to do the update but the system informs me about less memory space..could someone help to delete anything to make the firmware update?
Thnx!
Juhgu: Check the browser options -> settings. The option is called "Turn view" or something like that. It's not within the display/view section of the browser's options.
I worked this out as I used apt-get dist-upgrade which showed dpkg doesn't like cross filesystem links. Once I moved this back I had 60odd meg (I think this was du summing incorrectly as I didn't lose 16M of space) and ran dist-upgrade again. I saw my rootfs drop to 13MB at its lowest. I would suggest that 47MB is about the minimum, depending on what apps need to be replaced in place.
Tried dist-upgrade too, out of the same reason (moved apt-cache).. Update went through, however now I am stuck inside a reboot loop. I get to the (gray, gnome-style looking) PIN input field, after entering the PIN it reboots, then I get to what looks like the desktop with an empty, pink status area, then reboot..
I'm a little confused. I ran App Manager to attempt to update to PR1.2(through update, the same way I would update any apps). I've got Maemo 5 listed in my update list(which wasn't there as late as last night). When I select to update it, it tells me I have to hook up to the Nokia Suite. Why is this being called an OTA update if you have to hook up to the computer?
I see some other users are saying some rogue apps are stopping the update process, but I don't know if they're just referring to the update process or not even being about to update. I have plenty of rootfs space(892MB). I've never used the Nokia Suite for past updates, do I have to do it for this one?
Updating via NSU... Halfway during the update the N900 gets "disconnected" after which the update fails and the N900 "hangs", and I have to remove/put back the N900 battery in order for the N900 to start up again.
WTF
Updating OTA worked (after temporarily disabling several catalogues) like a charm

Thanks! Indeed it's in the wrong place, and very obscure in Finnish ("Ota kierto käyttöön").
It now occasionally works. I've heard you can now set portrait mode in some other applications (eg. email) too. Is this correct? If so, how does it work? Ctrl+shift+r seems to do nothing.
