Using 770 w/ Hotel Broadband Internet Access

Ok, this may be counterintuitive for wireless device, but consider this:

You're traveling, you want to check your web based email. The hotel furnished free broadband internet access. You can log on to the WiFi hotspot for a fee, bluetooth to your cellphone and pay, or somehow plug into the free internet access.

Anyone tried this or know how? Looks like your would need an external etherned card and some adapter plugs to get into the mini-USB port.

    What do you think?

Or a small wifi or Bluetoot router with ethernet connectivity?

I did find a bluetooth version a while back that did wireless connections for dial-up access. Perhaps there's something similar for ethernet...

How about this? They sell portable wifi router everywhere. Turn that ethernet connection into your own free wifi hotspot.

Looks like a good idea plus it's cheap. But when you look under system requirements, it's all Microsoft; is that a showstopper with the 770 being Linux?

I find many of those wireless hubs with Windows requirements but often it's for a setup application that you don' really need to run. As long as the device has a built-in admin page served up by a built-in web server then the requirement can be thrown out he window. I have no experience with this particular device but I am thinking of picking one up to try...

I've been using Apple's AirPort Express ( http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/ ) with my 770 at hotels this winter. It is not cheap at 129$, but it's easy to bring along as it is not large, "plug and play" easy, and it works great with my 770 (as well as with my PowerBook and my wive's Windows based PC). I did not have to install anything on any of the devices i used it with, worked right out of the box, just connect the ethernet cable.

You can get a PS2 Wifi bridge made for gaming. Its compact and requires no software. You do have to carry the unit, a power block, and an rj45 network cable, but it works great!

I second this...been using mine for over a year and it just plain works with any wireless device, plus I love the audio streaming thru iTunes...and the folding plug prongs are the icing on the cake - no extra long cables to carry with you.
