Hi
im going to follow this book for a guide
http://www.commandprompt.com/community/pyqt/
so thanks to the author for providing it for free.

i want to write "GUI Programming with Python" but already i have
hit a problem. its talking about BlackAdder as an IDE the problem is im looking for a free IDE that fully supports qt python.

it appears the good IDE's that i have already come across all supports c and c++ which is great but not for me.

im using Ubuntu 10 in my PC and so, i now ask are there any good IDE for pyqt out that is open source or free with all the bells and whistles ?
(ok maybe without the bells and whistles )

thanks
CN

Use vi ? ;-)

Unfortunately I don't know any IDEs for python.

Still, you can use vi directly on the tablet to write code. I did it a while ago to write a hello world application in QT and python.

Using IDLE is a good idea. Not specific to QT but a great way to get your head round Python.

thanks PVince81
based on your advise did a g search for vi and vim python

then i came across this which is pretty much on the case
http://blog.dispatched.ch/2009/05/24/vim-as-python-ide/

then within the same search result i found
http://eric-ide.python-projects.org/index.html

ill be looking at these two to see which one i can
become comfortable with.

however if there are any better ideas out there then please
provide them so that i can make a better decision

thanks

I would also reccommend looking at Idle (what I'm using) and Eric (I think Eric4 is the latest version).

Once you've got something up and running, don't forget about the Maemo coding competition - beginners welcome!

If you are comfortable with C++, I recommend you to install Nokia Qt SDK and try that.
