I'm not blown away but it's an improvement.

Portait mode would only be helpful in conversatioms if it redrew the text to fit the new width. But...

I do think over all it is snappier, and that's always nice. I think it is a nice update, but I fear it is the last for Maemo.

i am quite concerned about the battery life.
I am posting screenshots, before and after the software update..
when the phone was idle ( i wasnt using it) battery eye shows, that the power consumption is low and battery drains slowly. after the software update and backing up all my data and applications, the battery drains faster now.. i dont know where the problem is..
i installed 2 games from Ovi, but that shouldnt cause this problem as im not playing them.
the battery consumption stays the same even after reboot.

before software update the battery woudld hold the power for 3 days.

after software update ,the drainage is significant

    Can anyone help?

I'm pretty satisfied with it to be honest.

The N900 is still the best device of its class out there, in my opinion of course.

Another thread about installing the update indicated that folks who got "out of memory" error messages should try to uninstall some specific apps. This actually worked for me, by removing "countdown timer". Here's the info from the thread on "PR1.2: how much rootfs space for OTA update?"

    Specific app culprits noted were:

    gltron
    tux racer
    teeworld
    brainparty
    freeoffice
    openarena
    countdowntimer

I used the Storage Usage app to check rootfs space situation before 1.2 OTA. Got rid of a 20 meg icon cache backup file, disabled the additional repos and I was good to go. Over 60 megs free on rootfs now. No problems whatsoever.

Battery life is much improved for my 1.2 update, I think. Unless the battery level icon has been re-programmed. I got into the habit of switching off WiFi before but that doesn't seem necessary now... Will watch this as time goes by.

I like it too. Especially for the removal of "More" icon in the UI. Now I don't have to use any shortcuts for applications in the desktop. Phone feels more responsive and there's no "rootfs full" problem like before. QT 4.6 support will bring us more applications I hope.

I really like the fact you now can change the volume when the phone is on lock
