I've searched the forums and maemo.org, and not having a lot of lucking finding a nice howto for upgrading my new 770 to gregale. I want to run MaemoMapper, so I figured that's the first step.

Currently, my 770 is running 3.2006.49-2.

I've seen the flasher utilities at maemo.org, and this page:
http://maemo.org/community/wiki/howt...magewithlinux/

But that only talks about flashing to the version I'm already running. I don't understand how 2.1 (Mistral) and 2.2 (Gregale) relates to 3.2006.49-2.

I've tried finding some tutorial about upgrading to 2.2, but haven't had any luck, except to find posts of people who just finished. If someone could point me to a tutorial, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

Okay, but how would I know that, other than posting here. 3.2006.49-2 != 2.2 in my book.

In theory, 3.2006.49-2 is not equal to Maemo 2.2 in any book.

Maemo is a Linux-based development platform for handheld devices. Maemo version 2.2 (codenamed Gregale) has been used for Nokia 770 firmware release "OS 2006 Edition version 3.2006.49-2" along with Nokia's proprietary components. But in practice these terms are getting mixed up and confusing people.

Posting to this forum was a good way to get information about this issue, wasn't it? I don't know any easier way, except using Search function to find old posts. For example, when searching with keywords "3.2006.49-2" and "gregale" with Search Posts choosen, only few results are returned.

One of these is the very first post in Maemo Mapper thread: http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ead.php?t=4691.
