Hi,

On my Default n900 browser,I was trying to open the following Live TV link on timesofindia.com :
http://live.indiatimes.com/default.cms?timesnow=1

It asked me to install "Microsoft Silverlight" plug in....the link for which..in turn directed me to "NovellMoonlight"...Download...page..

Now I am not sure whether to go ahead with the installation of Moonlight Software( or Plug in) on my n900....

Situation is same with the Firefox Mobile browser
on my n900...!!

Has anyone used "moonlight" (MS Silverlight)..?!!?
Link for Moonlight :
http://www.go-mono.com/moonlight/

Please advice.

Thank You

"Nokia uses us as guinea pigs for testing half-baked n900...and
now...denies us Meego Officially..and..till date, we do not have free navigation on n900...unlike other nokia phones..!! "Jussi Makinen" of nokia..you better ensure that we get Meego and Navigation.."

Hi,

as far as I know there's no ARM version of Moonlight, so it's not going to work.

Apple has Fanboys, Nokia an Army of Guinea pigs. Hey, come on chin up. I think half the fun of owning an N900/N800 is tinkering our way to a solution. We can all ways MacGyver our way out of it.

I tested that some time ago on my easy debian install, in the hope to be able to show the Italian rai.tv streams - but it is too old, a 2.something version seems to be needed.

it's just a plugin for Firefox right?? Then there shouldn't be any problems in testing this. U can always reinstall Firefox or uninstall the plugin.

So then what about the Symbian MS Silverlight plugin?
http://www.silverlight.net/getstarted/devices/symbian/
Won't that work somehow on Maemo?

Or is my thought "Hey, if it's so hard to get moonlight working on an ARM processor why not start from an already ARM ready OS that's even Nokia's..." maybe a bit too easy?..

Ps: This is my first post, please forgive me my possible stupidity... :-)

Microsoft themselves announced just a while ago that they are dropping support altogether for alternate paltforms in Silverlight, so it's very unlikely they are planning to publish any new API details or anything anymore. Thus it's better to just forget the whole thing, it's not likely we'll ever get Silverlight.
