I have my own computer tech onsite/mobile service business and with the n900 want to know of anyone know of these type of programs I need?

A customer service logging program to store peoples names and what services I did etc etc.

Also like I have paper printed on varoius steps, tutorials of diffrent issues of like windows erros, setting up, netowrking etc etc, but would like to put files to read on the n900 instead of carrying paper around, does the n900 read .txt. .pdf files etc?

And does any techs/admins use the n900 since its like a mini computer to help them with their jobs that I can know, tips and stuff? Thanks

I normally use Rdesktop for remote access to my customer's servers and solve any emergency that might show up.
I set up a small website where I keep a log of the hours and the work I do with each customer.
For the rest, I use Spiceworks for Help Desk and Inventory. It lets you customize the Help Desk page with news, tutorials, solutions to common problems, etc.

Might seem like an odd suggestion but how about Google Wave? Set up a new blank wave for each client and it's easy to keep copy correspondence, invoices, maps etc all in one place. Looks good on the n900 too.

pretty sure I've got some spare invites if you don't already have an account.

Edit. Seem to have lost all my nominations in Wave...

Edit 2. Duh... It's open to all now via Labs.

As a Tech you should know never over complicate it..

Lesson 1 is never use IT to overcomplicate a process which has a very easy solution.

It does ready PDF and word docs for your guides. Just scan them in and put them on the memory card etc.

.pdf and .txt files are no problem.

You can install the Gnumeric spreadsheet program that might be helpful for some of your aims.

There are programs that help you track how much time you spend on various projects -- I forget what they are called, but you could search for them.

In short, I think the N900 could help you do what you want to do.
