its simple look to Nokia's flagships, always buggy on release sometime even after updates, constant false hopes, unfulfilled promises and ultimately discarded projects, that we have come to expect

Market leader is not a level or a rank...is a title, and Nokia is a market leader because he can summon 3rd-world-markets and fanboys that save his *** all the time

Didn't Symbian evolve from those prior iterations?

And didn't Maemo evolve (and merge) into MeeGo?

Even I wouldn't call the prior iterations "dead" when their DNA is currently being used in the products that exist today.

I guess I'm approaching this from a designer aspect. Quark bought MTropolis, which was a very awesome Macromedia Director competitor. In fact, I'd have to say it was on the threshold of beating Director - which at that time, the majority of online games were made with Director. And Quark... just killed it.

Just like they killed that packaging design software too. To me, that's really software death.

And wouldn't Nokia be more of a cemetary than "welfare level"?
