i can programme in php and have limited knowledge with c++. been looking for the most simple way or a tutorial to create a basic app. that for example can search google.

so basically a search box... then results appear. this could be customisable to search anything i guess. the one i want to do though would involve categories.

anyone know where i could find a basic tutorial?

Qt requires you to know C++, and it is nothing like PHP.

Perhaps Python or PyQt is for you?
There are threads about them in the dev forum.

There already is a fully functional browser on the device. Use that for such simple tasks.

If you want to make something that's a little more interesting, try to get data from several sources. You'll still get to play with HTTP and displaying results. Like, for example, the current index of the worlds 5 biggest stock exchanges or something similar.

Thx for all replies that made me learn more.
MADDE looks like a wonderful tool to created app in Windows OS.

But there was a little issue. The installation will be stopped while it was installing about the maemo files. An error appeared in the details of installation, which about the process "sh.exe".

If I force to shutdown "sh.exe", the installation can finish.
But there is nothing about maemo5.
Was there anything wrong with my Windows?

It's so cool. The installation of "Qt SDK" is done after I update Windows OS from sp2 to sp3.

Wish I can do well with Qt.

Do you have a solution? Having the same error...
The help file coming with the SDK is outdated; my IDE shows different things than the screenshots in help doc.

Specfically, how can one deploy an app to N900 via that IDE (Qt Creator)?

As a result, my sample project can only generate window .exe executable. Not what I want but I have no option to tell qmake that I wnat the target to be n900.

Any help appreciated.

I think I got that same error earlier.
Try changing your project device configuration settings in the Nokia SDK:

project -> maemo / run settings

manage device configurations

device configuration: N900

I don't have access to my SDK right now, but it should be something like that.
