    Hi all,

I have read many problems regarding the built in email client with regards to IMAP, in my case IMAP and Gmail.

I will explain again, hopefully im doing something stupid and someone will see the problem.

    Whats Working:

    1) I have a working Wifi internet connection - Check
    2) I can surf the Web - Check
    3) I can use Witter - Check
    4) Barriosquare works - Check
    5) AP News Widget works - check
    6) Twitter widget works - Check

    Not Working:

    1) Email using enabled IMAP from Gmail will not work, no errors or anything, it just wont refresh. - Fail
    2) OM Weather widget will not refresh - Fail
    3) Facebook widget will not refresh - Fail

Please someone offer advise, there are no blocks on my Wifi, it is working as you can see, its just 3 items that will not.

I have deleted the email and widgets many time, i have restarted, i have sang to the phone, nothing works.

    Please help

    Regards

    Colm

I am NOT and expert, but these are some of the things I would try.

    So do some investigating :
    - can you go to facebook.com
    - have you uninstalled and then reinstalled facebook widget
    - have you tried other facebook widgets (I'm not a big FB user so I'm not sure if there is more than 1 )

For email have you tried another client ?
Have you found the email config on the device ?
Have you tried to copy the current (broken) config and tried to re-create your settings ?

The OMWeather stuff should be investigated in a similar manner to the above.

    Hi CPH,

I can navigate to any webpage in the browser, the web works perfect, just not FB and OMW.

email is setup using the wizard on the phone, and when you say email config, i assume you just mean the settings in email account ? If so then yes these are correct.

There is no other reliable client for email on N900 as far as I know, please provide link if you have one.

OMW, same issue as FB, strange that Associated Press widget works fine.

Its just plain strange that WEB/Witter/AP/Barriosquare all work and all use the Wifi connect but these other dont work.

    Very annoying especially for email.

    Thanks

I've got the same problem with the email app like u :/
It's just refreshing when there's already an active connection.

As for Gmail -- u did manualy set proper ports?

    imap -- SSL, port 993
    smtp -- TLS, port 587

And just to be sure use full email address for login name (with @gmail.com or @googlemail.com).

    Regards,
    b.

I have it set to WLAN only as I would not want it pulling email down via 3G.

however I have tried this but also does not help.

There's always flashing. I realise it's not the most painless approach but it is the most likely to fix it.

To be honest, I dont really want to do this, as all the things that dont work in my company Wifi work in my home Wifi.

Please keep in mind though as I say my 5800 works perfect with same settings and the Wifi connection is working for other things.

The other reason I dont want to do this is because I dont know anything about it and a complete wipe should not be required.

Is there any dedicated technical support for N900 by Nokia or preferably Maemo themselves (one in the same i know)

    Thanks
