VDVsx: Yes, when an app's window doesn't have keyboard focus, simply pressing the power button and then pressing outside the power button menu to make it go away gives keyboard focus to the app!

Now there's an easy fix.

You appear to be completely and utterly lost. This is the wrong thread. See this thread about MMS support instead.

Digging up this old thread, because Nokia broke our lovely, elegant workaround. The power button menu no longer restores keyboard focus to the window underneath!

qobi's workaround still works (although differently now), but has to be run every time

Any way to make non-compliant apps work properly by running a workaround app only once? Or are we doomed to have to run the workaround every time we move away from a non-compliant app and then return?

Just curious because I haven't yet upgraded to PR1.2. (I'm hesitant to do so because I rely on things like being able to use bluetooth keyboards and run emacs/latex/... in a Debian chroot and want to find out what breaks before upgrading.)
In what way does my workaround work differently than before?

JFYI, I was also hesitant for much of the same reasons, but took the chance and flashed the fiasco image onto the device. Had to set my bluetooth keyboard (nokia su8w) up again, but it was no problem.

I am by the way also running emacs 23 (and vim, shame on me!) and (XeLaTeX) on device, not in a chroot though (thanks to the great TeXLive 2009 port).

If this works, please put it in the repository to extras-devel.

Interesting, it looks like it might actually work better now. It seems I only need to set focus, rather the Byzantine system I was using before (I had to put another window in the foreground before setting focus)...

So a workable system needs only qobi's hack, and wmctrl to get the window ID. I would love it if someone would at least put wmctrl in the repos...

A little update, I put jebba's Etch version of wmctrl into the Extras-devel repo.
