is it possible when having a data connection/wifi to give the desired destination a POI and use that POI later on as a destination in the navigation.
In theory this should be possible.
A POI is nothing more than some gps coordinates with a label so you can set some trips while you're online and use them for navigation when you're not connected. the only thing that can go wrong is that maps doesn's support a POI as destination in the search which would suprise me.
