I have checked, the bug is caused by enabling Compositing in X Server. Right now i have no idea how to solve this
Not a bugfix, but a possible workaround for telescope
If it is possible to reliably detect the mediaplayer window (windowid?), then sending it a minimize event before presenting the windows could make the overlay dissapear

There is a bug with the latest update 0.2.7 , if the application's menu is open (titlebar menu) telescope won't launch.

Yes, i thought about this too. Some sort of workaround. I'm sure that there is a way to determine if mediaplayer's window is opened (by X11 window class, for ex.). But it will require some time for experiments.

This is because application's menu is grabbing keyboard input. It is technically impossible (i think so) to catch keyboard press event in this case. For example, +/- buttons will not work as well if menu is opened.
However, power button menu works even with menu
Is this issue serious for you?

This doesn't bother me at all, I just thought this was due to the update. I was surprised when telescope didn't respond, like you said, you expect it to work like the power key, no matter what the state of the client is.

    Telescope 0.2.7.1
    Support for plain color background
Specially for Kroll: 'selection.disabled = on' option in /etc/telescope.conf disables window selection

I use global key grabbing for catching F5 presses. It is normal X11 behavior that popup menus block such grabbing. So, if power menu works in all cases, it probably uses some more tricky way

Late response -- this is about trying to close an app from Telescope and the app pops up some kind of "are you sure?" dialog.

Anyway, if there's no way for Telescope to get notified that the app isn't going to comply with the close request right away, than the only other thing I can think of is for Telescope to check to see if the app is, in fact, closing. If it doesn't close (within a certain amount of time???), then Telescope would switch to it. However, I understand that this might be flaky to implement, so it's not a big deal to me. Thanks for your attention.

    Telescope 0.2.7.2
Workaround for OSSO MediaPlayer. Exactly as maacruz suggested -- when user is calling telescope from mediaplayer, mediaplayer will be minimized to hide its video overlay. When video is active, mediaplayer minimizes without animation, so it does it fast.

Thanks, i will try to find some solution for this. Your suggestion with timeout can be used as last hope

It mostly works, but sometimes it fails leaving a still image or a black frame. It happens just after changing from/to fullscreen, but not always, so I guess it might be some timing issue.

    Thanks...
I need to test it further. Actually, when you press F5 from mediaplayer, telescope shows its window and only after that send minimize command to mediaplayer. If things are happen in same order, it should work. But, you know, X Server is the pretty asynchronous thing... So, there is no surprise if there are some timing issues...

Probably it may be impossible to avoid completely, but may be adding a small delay (like 0.1 s) could be enough to make it happen rarely.
