I'm going to sound ultra stupid nowbut how do I find the firmware and attempt to update it... I can't find it in the app manager... i've searched in the 'all' category for anything maemo related and it's not come up. God I feel a bit thick...
oh and i've got the maemo.org and maemo.org extras catalogues enabled... along with nokia system software updates and ovi?

It should just show up as "Maemo 5" as I recall, and should show up under "Update" in App Manager. You can check what version you have installed by looking at the Version string in Settings/About product, or use the excellent Healthcheck app which will give you both the version number and the PR number.
