Howdy, been reading about the N800 and it sounds like a nifty little gadget, I was hoping you guys (and girls) could tell me whether it would fit my needs.

I'm wanting to set up my home stereo system so that I can stream mp3s from my pc into my amplifier and stereo wirelessly. Would the N800 be powerful enough to do this?

I'd like to connect my stereo to the N800 using the 3.5 jack plug and select tunes on the N800 from my PC. Is this a practical idea, or would I be better off using a laptop?

Thanks for any advice. Also, if you think it's a reasonable proposition, can you recommend a cheap wire free keyboard I could use to do a bit of internet gossip while I'm lounging.

Or are there any other reasonably priced goodies that could do the same thing?

you'll need a2dp bluetooth profile on the n800,it unfortunately doesnt have this out of the box. but yor not completely out of luck, there are ways of forcing the n800 to use the a2dp profile. one way is to download kagu media player and follow the instructions for b.t. streaming.goodluck

This in theory will work. It depends on what you are using to stream the media from your computer. Canola can access upnp devices so if you set up a upnp server you could stream that way or alternatively if you use windows you could use orb (a client exists for the n800). The bluetooth profile the previous poster mentioned is only if you wish to stream the sound from the n800 to your stereo though from what I understand you plan to stream to the n800 using wifi then connect the n800 to the stereo via a 3.5 mm jack.

As already mentioned, you can set up a UPnP server, download upnpmr (which will make a upnp media renderer out of your 770) and control it via your PC (by Cidero).
