Over at reddit.com some one had posted how to start the n900's python server.

It was some thing like this:
Start terminal, start the py server, then from your network navigate to the N900's ip and you can view all your files from your computer. I had used it once to retrieve some images.

Any one know how t do this?

python is a language, and an interpreter, not a server.
Maybe you mean a ssh server, or a samba server.

    AFAIK, only ssh server works

    Type into the terminal

    python -m SimpleHTTPServer 8001

from the directory you want to share.

    Thank you Laughing Man

For those who dont know this trick
Go to terminal login as root
Go to the Dir you want to access from your computer and type
    python -m SimpleHTTPServer 8001
then just go to your computer and type the IP of your N900 and port 8001
for example I was able to connect on "10.0.0.8:8001"
