Lately I am overwhelmed with files that my N800 tells me are corrupted or unreadable. This has happened just this week with several jpegs, a couple of PDFs, and some mp3s too. These are files that the N800 has accessed without problem before. Personally--and admittedly unscientifically--I think this is related to the hosing of SD cards that is not uncommon among N800 users. So I am bracing myself for another one to go. If this does happen I am going to be furious with this device. When the first card died I felt like it had something to do with transferring files via the USB port. So I never do that anymore. It may have helped, but it has not completely cleared up the problem. Whatever that is exactly.

Today a new file was 'corrupted'. It is a Gnumeric file. It opens just fine. But what is 'in' it is bizarre. When it was created it was a spreadsheet of consisting of approximately 5 rows by 5 columns. It had numbers and dates within it. It now has only text within the cells; it has this quote inserted--broken up--into the cells.

Even if you think everything I\'d5ve said about work, such as the possibility of its abolition, is visionary nonsense, the anti-liberty implications of its prevalence would still hold good. The time of your life is the one commodity you can sell but never buy back. Murray Rothbard thinks egalitarianism is a revolt against nature, but his day is 24 hours long, just li against work will settle accounts with \'d2libertarians\'d3 and \'d2Communists\'d3 working against revolt. And then we can go for the gusto!\

What in the h*ll is that? No one else has access to my N800. I never leave it with wifi or bluetooth on. This is seriously odd. Anyone with more knowledge than I care to speculate?

I found the quote within a text file that I had downloaded with intention to read later. So apparently the file system on the SD card has been corrupted....FYI. It sure does seem like the N800 can not be trusted with data; make sure nothing on it is your only copy.

you seem to be affected by an issue many are having with the new firmware and SDHC cards. read this thread.

http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ead.php?t=8267

there is a bunch of people reporting the issue and a bug open on it.
