    Terminal in Maemo 5 SDK

    How do I access the terminal in the Maemo 5 SDK? The "more" option is missing.

    Background, I'm interested in buying an N900, mostly because it can do X11 forwarding. I really wanted to see if Blender worked alright (the main app I'd be using) through X11, and maybe test out some other apps. From what I've seen, I'll probably be buying one soon, but it's always nice to be sure.

    More was removed in PR1.2. It is a big scrollable grid now. So scroll down until you find "X Terminal".

    The SDK doesn't include an X Terminal, though you can install osso-xterm. Performance in the Xephyr session is not representative of how the device performs, and does not use hardware acceleration.

    X11 forwarding does work well, I can't say anything about Blender except that I'm not sure how (if at all) OpenGL works when its window has been forwarded.

    How would I go about installing osso-xterm on the SDK?

    I'm not necessarily intested in the performance aspect, but whether or not will actually work with an OpenGL app at all. You wouldn't happen to know how to emulate right and possible middle mouse button clicking in such a session would you?

    In a scratchbox session, type:
    Code:
    fakeroot apt-get install osso-xterm
    The problem you'll run into is at this point there is no direct support for right or middle clicks (that I am at all aware of) on the device, and I don't believe OpenGL 2.0 and OpenGL ES 2.0 are compatible, let alone whether said calls will route over a forwarded X11 session.

    I'm guessing by entering a scratchbox session, you mean using the login script? Because when I attempt
    Code:
    $ sh /scratchbox/login
    /scratchbox/login: 9: Syntax error: "(" unexpected

    Don't run it with sh.

    Code:
    $ /scratchbox/login
