Don't know if this has already been posted somewhere, but I did a search on it and didn't find anything. If it has I apologize, and please give a newb a break.
Anyway, I discovered after pairing my N800 over bluetooth with my Macbook that I couldn't browse the N800 from my Mac. I was pretty sure it wasn't going to work but thought I'd give it a shot anyway. So today I was in File Manager looking for something and noticed that my Macbook showed up in the list of sources. So I clicked on it and got a message that it couldn't connect. Since it showed up in the list and I already had the N800 listed as a trusted device in the bluetooth prefs, I couldn't understand why it wouldn't hook up. So I went back into the bluetooth pref pane under "Sharing" and clicked on the radio button to enable file sharing and file exchange with trusted devices, and voila! The Drop Box in my Public folder showed up in file manager. Simple. Now I have the option of just using my Drop Box as a repository for things I intend to transfer to my N800 later.
I realize this probably isn't a new discovery, but thought I'd share anyway in case some other Mac users might find it useful.

Yeah that's gonna help me out for sure, when and if I ever get around to getting my own IT. Only thing that puzzles me though is why you had to go throu all those steps. I currently do bluetooth file exchanges with my nokia cell phone and I just navigate to the home folder then from there into wherever, say my mmc card, etc. So, I hope I find this thread when I get my it. Also, do you see any advantage of exchanging files via bluetooth over usb other than the convenience of being wireless?
Same here. I've always been able to browse and transfer files to my Nokia phone immediately after pairing. I don't know why it treated the N800 differently.
Since I'm not able to sync anything, there's no real advantage aside from my lazy butt not having to get up and go grab my N800 when I find something I want to send to it when it's sitting in the next room. This way when I do get up to go out I just browse to the Drop Box on my N800 and drag the files to one of my SD cards before I leave.
